Spartanburg Community College is looking for a Welding Instructor to provide high-quality instruction and academic advisement for our Welding program. You will teach courses in various formats, including evenings, weekends, online, or dual enrollment classes in high schools, contributing directly to student success and program excellence.
What You'll Do
- Teach assigned courses in accordance with established syllabi.
- Prepare, review, and maintain course materials, programs, and syllabi.
- Demonstrate effective course and classroom management techniques.
- Provide academic guidance, assist students in developing personal, academic, and professional plans, and engage in the College’s recruitment, retention, and graduation efforts.
- Participate in College activities, projects, and community service to promote the institution.
- Engage in activities to develop your teaching performance, instructional skills, and subject matter knowledge.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or an Associate’s degree with demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
- Demonstrated competencies in the teaching discipline.
- Strong organizational and communication skills necessary for effective instruction.
- Candidates forwarded by the search committee must be willing to complete a weld demonstration.
Nice to Have
- An Associate’s degree in Welding or a closely related field with at least three (3) years of industry work experience as a welder and/or relevant industry certifications.
- Valid or current credentials, such as AWS CWI or CWE.
- Completion of a federally approved apprenticeship program accompanied by appropriate certifications.
- The aptitude to assist both new and returning students in achieving their educational goals.
- Knowledge and experience in welding theory, metallurgy, mathematics, blueprint reading, oxy-acetylene welding and brazing, SMAW, GMAW, GTAW, and FCAW in accordance with AWS and industry standards.
- The ability to communicate effectively, develop programs and curricula that meet industry needs, and demonstrate welding skills consistent with ASME standards applicable to advanced pipe welding.
