WSP USA Inc. is hiring a Vice President, Environmental Geologist for its Site Investigation & Remediation team in Irvine, California. You will be instrumental in expanding our environmental consulting business across California and the Western U.S., focusing on selling, managing, and implementing multi-media remediation programs for clients in Industrial, Government, Energy, Oil & Gas, and Transportation sectors.
What You'll Do
- Provide proactive and strategic leadership for the scientific discipline, offering direction, expertise, and support to ensure project deliverables are achieved.
- Perform business development for environmental investigation, remediation, and engineering services within various sectors.
- Oversee, mentor, and direct the efforts of staff- and project-level geologists and environmental scientists.
- Assist in the preparation of technical reports and proposals.
- Ensure scientific discipline certifications, accreditations, and value propositions are developed and improved.
- Conduct needs analyses and client value surveys to align the discipline’s function with business strategy.
- Serve as a lead representative and liaison to external entities including Federal, State, and Local Agencies, clients, and industry groups.
- Interpret and summarize data to reach sound scientific and regulatory conclusions.
- Interact successfully with Local Business Leaders, Sector Leads, and other senior employees firm-wide.
- Provide verbal and written inputs to multi-disciplinary teams and offer high-level strategic advice to clients.
- Manage multiple projects and multi-disciplinary teams, ensuring deliverables, schedules, and budgets are achieved.
- Develop and inform proposal and project scopes, timelines, pricing, and budgetary metrics.
- Mentor staff to support their growth and professional development.
- Manage and provide performance guidance and leadership to assigned staff.
- Collaborate with professionals from various disciplines to provide solutions for clients.
- Meet sales, revenue, and delivery goals.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds and conduct.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
What We're Looking For
- BS in Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related science field.
- 15+ years of related environmental remediation and sales experience.
- Strong work ethic and must be a self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous experience with multi-disciplinary remediation projects involving the California Regional Water Quality Control Board, DTSC, and/or local CUPAs.
- Experience with CERCLA, RCRA, DTSC, Water Board, and other CalEPA Programs.
- Consulting experience with investigation and remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater, including sites impacted by petroleum hydrocarbons, metals, chlorinated solvents, PCBs, and/or PFAS.
- Must have consulting experience in soil gas and vapor intrusion issues.
- Experience developing and managing complex engineering design and design-build projects.
- Experience overseeing remedy construction and operation and maintenance of environmental project work.
- Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
- Tactical lateral thinking and strong analytical skills with attention to detail in a pressure environment.
- Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources, including senior management and clients.
- Advanced proficiency with office automation and communication software.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety, and conduct policies.
- Must be flexible to a variety of schedules and able to adapt quickly to change.
- Ability to travel to projects as needed for execution and business development.
- Must successfully complete WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Must pass a drug test, physical, and background check per company policy.
Nice to Have
- Master’s Degree in Geology or a related science field.
- California Professional Geologist’s License.
- PMP Certification.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120).
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR.

- Salary range: $144,700 - $214,900.
