Chatham Financial is looking for a Vice President, Accounting Advisory with a passion for accounting, economics, and financial risk management. In this role, you will advise clients on complex hedge accounting strategies, manage a portfolio, and serve as a subject matter expert. What You'll Do
- Develop an excellent understanding of hedge accounting and the underlying economics of interest rate, foreign currency, and commodities hedging.
- Advise clients on structuring, implementing, and ongoing accounting for various hedging strategies.
- Manage a portfolio of clients, providing advice on strategies, running effectiveness tests, and drafting hedge designation memos.
- Create journal entries and financial statement disclosures in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS, and provide management and auditor support.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, preparing and presenting technical accounting education materials for clients and colleagues.
- Lead projects to help clients design hedge accounting programs that meet their economic and financial reporting objectives.
- Contribute to internal initiatives for process efficiency, standardization, and technology design with your technical accounting expertise.
- Work with Advisory and Accounting Operations teams to prepare and review period-end accounting deliverables.
- Partner with clients and internal teams to onboard client portfolios or new hedging strategies into our technology platform.
- Contribute to research in one of the most complex and evolving areas of accounting.
What We're Looking For
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- 4+ years in public accounting audit or accounting advisory.
- A passion for technical accounting, related research, and reading and applying US GAAP and/or IFRS accounting standards.
- Experience in ASC 815/ASC 820 and/or IFRS 9/IFRS 13 and a desire to become a subject matter expert.
- A strong client-service orientation and desire to thrill clients.
- Strong teamwork mentality and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to distill complex topics concisely.
- Quantitative/analytical skills and mathematical proficiency.
- Ability to prioritize competing demands to deliver a high level of client service.
- Excellent Excel and PowerPoint experience.
- A commitment to working onsite in a highly collaborative environment.
Nice to Have
- A minor or interest in economics or finance.
- Big Four public accounting experience.
- An interest in finance to help understand the economics of derivatives transactions.
