Responsibilities
- Offer personalized coaching to faculty, postdoctoral scholars, and students to refine research direction and enhance alignment with market and societal demands.
- Create tailored translational strategies that support potential commercial pathways such as startup formation, federal funding applications, and industry collaborations.
- Perform in-depth assessments of market trends, technology landscapes, and key stakeholders to guide research planning.
- Monitor advancement and development of projects using established college metrics and tracking systems.
- Identify obstacles in project progression and facilitate coordination between internal departments and external collaborators.
- Deliver training programs and one-on-one support to improve researchers' ability to engage with industry partners.
- Assist research teams in clearly defining market relevance, use cases, and value propositions early in project development.
- Support the preparation of strong invention disclosures and initial commercialization planning.
- Integrate translational thinking into research design to increase competitiveness for future funding opportunities.
- Facilitate preliminary interactions with industry experts to gather insights that shape research focus and improve practical applicability.
- Convert feedback from external partners into actionable recommendations, steering teams away from low-impact development paths.
- Prepare research groups for formal industry discussions by clarifying use cases, value propositions, and industry expectations in advance.
- Record early signs of industry interest and ensure seamless transfer of mature projects to technology transfer or corporate partnership units.
- Improve licensing and partnership outcomes by embedding market awareness throughout the research lifecycle.
