Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, ICT, Utilities, and Airfield Ground Lighting (AGL) teams to ensure integrated design and execution.
- Consolidate technical inputs across disciplines and resolve interface conflicts.
- Organize and lead technical coordination meetings, workshops, and design reviews.
- Oversee technical aspects of runway, taxiway, and apron construction or rehabilitation works.
- Ensure compliance with aviation standards (ICAO, FAA, EASA, or applicable Civil Aviation Authority requirements).
- Monitor pavement design, drainage systems, marking, signage, and airfield ground lighting systems.
- Review design drawings, specifications, shop drawings, method statements, RFIs, and technical submittals.
- Identify design clashes, constructability issues, and operational risks within live airport environments.
- Provide technical recommendations and ensure engineering deliverables meet project requirements.
- Coordinate with Airport Authorities, Civil Aviation Regulators, Consultants, and Contractors.
- Support approvals, inspections, and regulatory submissions.
- Ensure technical alignment with operational safety and airside requirements.
- Ensure adherence to aviation standards, project specifications, and QA/QC procedures.
- Support testing and commissioning of airfield systems including AGL and associated infrastructure.
- Monitor compliance with safety, environmental, and operational regulations.
- Track engineering deliverables against project schedules.
- Assist in technical risk assessment and mitigation planning.
- Support value engineering initiatives and technical problem resolution during construction.
- Coordinate works within active airside operations to minimize operational disruptions.
- Ensure method statements consider airport safety and operational constraints.
- Liaise with operations teams for phased implementation and work sequencing.
- Prepare technical reports and provide updates to Engineering Managers and Project Directors.
- Communicate technical challenges and solutions clearly to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate documentation of technical decisions and coordination outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years of direct experience in airfield or airport projects.
- Proven experience in runway/taxiway construction, rehabilitation, or expansion works.
- Strong knowledge of ICAO Annex 14, FAA standards, or equivalent aviation regulations.
- In-depth understanding of airfield ground lighting (AGL) systems.
- Familiarity with pavement design standards and airfield drainage systems.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination and interface management skills.
- Ability to review and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and risk assessment capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Nice to Have
- Experience working in operational (live) airport environments is highly preferred.
- Experience in EPC airport projects or large-scale international airport developments.
- Knowledge of BIM coordination and digital engineering tools.
- Experience coordinating with Civil Aviation Authorities for approvals.
- Airside safety certification or airport operational training.
- Experience in Middle East or international airport projects (if applicable).
