Black & Veatch is looking for a Superintendent to play a pivotal role in field execution. You will be responsible for interfacing with and monitoring subcontractor supervision and field engineering, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedule, and performance expectations while providing technical direction.
What You’ll Do
- Monitor, verify, and report on construction activities for compliance with the CPM schedule; track and report on completion of project schedule activities and commodity installation.
- Assist subcontractors in resolving problems and report on issues related to drawings, schedule, quality, quantity tracking, cost reporting, and safety.
- Monitor discipline construction productivity, progress, and cost, and report to Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager.
- Conduct subcontractor supervision meetings to review and assist in daily, weekly, and monthly planning.
- Develop and monitor a 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule for assigned work scope.
- Develop a corrective plan to ensure progress and productivity targets are met.
- Verify that all material, manpower, and resources needed to support the 3 Week Look Ahead Schedule are available and on site.
- Develop, monitor, and report on completion of craft and subcontractor punch list activities.
- Maintain a daily log for site records.
- Review all subcontractor timesheets, installed quantity reports, and progress payment requests.
- Monitor supplier Technical Service Representative daily logs and review and approve their timesheets.
- Communicate and coordinate assigned subcontractor(s) daily and weekly work plans with other discipline Facilitators and the Construction Manager.
- Monitor assigned subcontractor(s) for compliance with subcontract scope and schedule requirements.
- Assist the Field Subcontract Administrator in the preparation of all extra work authorization requests.
- Assist the Construction Engineer in compiling or answering Contractor Information Requests.
- Administer execution of work packages and equipment installation.
- Develop and distribute a Job Hazard Analysis for major erection packages within scope.
- Identify potential back charges and out-of-scope issues and report to the Construction Manager.
- Support the commercial recovery process.
- Provide supervision, training, development, and performance management to direct reports.
- Adhere to safety and quality standards as applicable to duties and accountabilities.
- Support continuous improvement efforts and associated change management.
- Supervise subcontractors and field engineers, acting in a supervisory capacity.
What We’re Looking For
- 1+ years of construction field leadership experience on equivalent projects.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- OSHA 10 certification.
- Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements, which may include a criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search.

You will supervise subcontractors and field engineers, acting as a supervisor providing work direction without direct management responsibility for personnel. You will report to the Construction Manager and Field Project Controls Manager.
