The Oregon Department of Energy seeks a State Grants Coordinator to join the Office of Student Access & Completion (OSAC). This full-time, permanent role administers state public grant programs, primarily the Oregon Promise grant. You will conduct outreach, review applications, determine eligibility, and provide bilingual technical assistance. This is a hybrid position based in Salem, Oregon.
What You'll Do
- Review Oregon Promise grant applications and materials to determine applicants’ eligibility.
- Assist with evaluating enrollment exemption and waiver requests against program requirements.
- Review renewal student participation to determine if students meet renewal criteria under state statutes.
- Send email communications to students regarding application deadlines, FAFSA/ORSAA submissions, award notifications, and program updates.
- Provide state grants and ORSAA training and presentations in English and Spanish as requested.
- Explain program guidelines, answer questions, and provide information to the public about OSAC programs in both English and Spanish.
- Work with the Program Administrator to analyze program spending, track budgeted expenditures, and assist with reconciliation.
- Research best practices by gathering and synthesizing data and compiling information into reports.
- Perform ID resolution for FAFSA/ORSAA and load matches for OPG.
- Process HB2910 applications, including creating accounts, verifying with DOC/OYA, communicating with students, and tracking submissions.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's Degree in Business or Public Administration, Behavioral or Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Any combination of experience or education equivalent to three years of technical-level experience supporting the knowledge and skill requirements.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English and Spanish.
Nice to Have
- Previous experience in financial aid, or administration of OSAC and/or federal financial aid grants and scholarships.
- Experience serving and working with diverse populations and underserved communities.
- Extensive effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to remain flexible and effectively manage shifting priorities and changing work demands.
- A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Access, and Excel.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and evaluation.
