TD Bank Group is looking for a Senior Relationship Manager to join our Middle Market Commercial Banking team in Richmond, Virginia. In this external sales role, you will be the principal point of client acquisition and retention, responsible for proactively executing integrated strategies to obtain new and grow existing commercial relationships. You will help advance TD’s vision to Be the Better Bank by enriching the lives of our customers and communities.
What You'll Do
- Lead the formulation and implementation of strategic plans to increase market share and maximize growth opportunities.
- Work independently to develop new business with prospects that have the largest and most complex credit needs in your assigned segment.
- Maintain or establish a portfolio to achieve growth goals for loans, deposits, and fees, both individually and by assisting the team.
- Contribute to the coaching, training, development, and team leadership of less experienced Relationship Managers.
- Make sales calls, gather financial and business information, and explain TD's products and services.
- Negotiate terms and conditions within prescribed parameters, finalizing loan agreements and closing sales.
- Contribute to the loan decision process by evaluating credit risk and other key factors.
- Assist in issue resolution for delinquencies and problem credits, collaborating with credit support and product partners.
- Develop a clear retention plan for your assigned portfolio’s deposits and loans.
- Actively generate referrals to all bank business partners to meet customers' comprehensive financial needs.
- Develop a broader knowledge base of commercial products, loan policy, documentation, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain frequent interaction with centers of influence, industry segments, community leaders, and senior business contacts.
- Develop community relationships through CRA initiatives and membership in civic and professional organizations.
- Understand and support TD’s Customer Service Strategy, delivering legendary customer experiences.
- Coordinate with internal business partners to maximize cross-selling and referral opportunities.
- Achieve assigned sales goals and contribute to overall strategic direction and process improvement.
- Advance and sustain a unique, inclusive culture that reflects TD’s diversity agenda.
What We're Looking For
- A 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
- 10+ years of related commercial banking experience.
- In-depth understanding of the commercial industry, business development techniques, and credit decisions.
- Proven business development track record and ability to conceptualize and implement effective new business strategies.
- An extensive network of outside referral sources for new business.
- Excellent credit and financial analysis skills.
- Refined negotiation and proven communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven PC skills.
- Demonstrated experience in Commercial & Industrial, Divestitures, Mergers & Acquisition loans, and syndicated loans.
Team & Environment
You will work both independently and as part of the Middle Market team, focusing on external sales and relationship management for substantial commercial clients.
