The AES Corporation is looking for a Solar & BESS Technician II to maintain our distributed and utility-scale solar and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across the Northeast. You will be based from your home in the Long Island, NY area and travel to sites within the region, bringing solid troubleshooting skills and the ability to lead and train other field personnel.
What You'll Do
- Travel to solar and battery storage facilities in the local region to perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Perform technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facility.
- Coordinate and manage contractors engaged to support maintenance activities.
- Provide limited support for commissioning activities.
- Lead or support warranty claims processes with vendors as needed.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements.
- Perform work independently and in team environments.
What We're Looking For
- A technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualifications.
- Three or more years of experience as a PV O&M solar technician.
- Five (5) or more years’ experience in a power plant.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and electrical theory application.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Must reside within a radius that covers the area between Albany, NY, and Worcester, MA.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Battery Energy Storage systems (BESS).
- Proven experience with a variety of electrical equipment and knowledge of basic IT and remote communications equipment.

Work Mode
