About the Role

Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp seeks a Senior Sales Account Manager to build long-term strategic partnerships with our most significant customers. In this role, you will be responsible for introducing new products, executing key organizational initiatives, and driving sales growth for our strategic accounts.

What You'll Do

  • Achieve budgeted sales volume for consumer goods with key customers.
  • Develop and achieve maximum sales volume consistent with projections for your accounts.
  • Maintain and grow business with existing accounts.
  • Drive the discovery and application of consumer and customer insights to enhance performance.
  • Implement and execute Smithfield sales plans to promote our product lines.
  • Maintain current knowledge of our product management, marketing, and R&D efforts to increase sales.
  • Cultivate business relations to communicate product availability, logistics, specifications, and pricing.
  • Ensure prompt and equitable resolution of customer complaints or problems.
  • Drive a positive employee experience through leadership by way of employee development and coaching.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a related field and 8+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination.
  • 2+ years of demonstrated experience in team management, development, or project leadership.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Respectful, approachable, and team-oriented approach to building strong relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Knowledge of the food business industry or retail channel dynamics.
  • Experience with customer-focused and fact-based selling, including the use of data sources like IRI, Nielsen, and Perishable Group.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • A high level of written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, and adaptability.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SAP.

Team & Environment

You will be supported by a Sales Director, Regional Sales Manager, or National Accounts Manager. You may also mentor junior staff or lead a small team.
