Transport for London (TfL) is hiring a Senior Maintenance Technician

About the Role

Transport for London (TfL) seeks a Senior Maintenance Technician to play a key role in the Crossrail network. This position is initially crucial for bringing the new railway into service safely and efficiently. Upon operation, you will assist in the safety-critical deployment and tactical supervision of maintenance teams.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the Principal Maintenance Technician in delivering overall line safety and safety-critical asset inspection, compliance, work prioritization, and tactical deployment.
  • Support the Delivery Supervisor in establishing the intervention regime and managing maintenance engineering stewardship to deliver defined Crossrail standards.
  • Deliver maintenance deployment planning with operations colleagues, ensuring operational requirements align with asset management needs.
  • Ensure Infrastructure and Asset maintenance standards are met by applying established policies and procedures.
  • Implement the operating model for continuous improvement using Reliability Based Maintenance as part of the 'Predict and Prevent' asset stewardship strategy.

What We're Looking For

  • Team leader experience with leadership skills to motivate professionals from multiple disciplines.
  • Excellent communication skills with proven negotiation and influencing skills, explicitly with external contractors.
  • Excellent decision-making and analytical skills with established risk management skills.
  • Ability to formulate and articulate clear visions for the planning and delivery of initiatives.
  • A broad range of HVAC/MECH skills and willingness to learn other desirable skills within the MEP scope.
  • In-depth working knowledge of A/C and associated systems and plant.
  • Strong knowledge of Air Conditioning and associated controls, proficient in HVAC systems fault finding and maintenance.
  • HND, City and Guilds, and FGAS qualification.
  • Member or Associate of a relevant professional institution (such as ICE, IstructE, ImechE / IEE / IRSE).
  • Demonstrable understanding of the business structure of and agencies associated with the Rail Industry.
  • Demonstrable application of railway safety-related standards regime and processes, including Network Rail Safety standards.
  • Experience in HVAC Systems, electrical and mechanical sides.
  • Experience in fault finding in mechanical control panels and associated PLC experience.
  • Experience in the rail or other infrastructure and asset-critical industries.
  • Experience in the management of infrastructure stewardship and maintenance.
  • Experience of successfully managing a range of maintainers.
  • Experience of producing and delivering maintenance engineering stewardship strategies.
  • Experience of working alongside other engineering functions.

Nice to Have

  • LUL or Network Rail experience (desirable not essential).
