About the Role

WSP USA Inc. is looking for a Senior Engineer - Substations to take a senior role within our engineering team, focusing on production and liaison with our WSP UK Team in the Energy & Distributions sector. You will be instrumental in leading the design process, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring junior team members.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare feasibility study reports and review them with the Associate/Principal Engineer of Structures.
  • Work with the WSP UK Team to assemble compliant design specifications and monitor their preparation.
  • Agree and monitor scopes of work, and clearly define building requirements to allow detailed design.
  • Carry out detailed design to WSP and B Regulations standards, ensuring CDM, QA, and technical review sign-off for complex calculations.
  • Review and monitor the production of calculations, including QA and technical reviews.
  • Ensure detailed information for project costing is completed to deadline and keep the WSP UK Team informed of design progress.
  • Provide documentary information to assist in tender preparation.
  • Handle day-to-day queries from the WSP UK Team and ensure relevant information is available for construction.
  • Report any variance between works constructed and design intent.
  • Lead the design process to deliver appropriate, cost-effective solutions on programme.
  • Follow and coach junior staff on document control, archiving, CDM, and QA processes.

What We're Looking For

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience as a Civil & Structural Engineer in the Energy & Distributions sector, preferably in AIS & GIS substations.
  • Proven experience handling projects independently, including liaising between disciplines and clients.
  • Conversant in software such as Tekla, Robot, and STAAD.
  • Experience in a BIM 360 environment.
  • A sound understanding of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Fluency in English with an excellent understanding of technical terminology.
  • A B.Tech / M.Tech (Structures) degree.
  • Note that employment is subject to successful completion of a background verification (BGV) check.

Nice to Have

  • Preferable experience with international codes such as American or Euro codes.

  • Productivity: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project

Team & Environment

You will work as part of an engineering team, taking a senior role and reporting to an Associate/Principal Engineer of Structures. A key aspect of the role involves close liaison with the WSP UK Team.

Work Mode

This position offers a hybrid work model and is based at our Noida, Bengaluru, or Mumbai offices in India.
