As a Flight Attendant, you will play a vital role in maintaining the safety and well-being of passengers on every flight. Your responsibilities include conducting safety briefings, managing in-flight service, and responding promptly to any emergencies. You must remain composed and professional, even during unexpected changes or high-pressure situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations and company safety protocols.
- Deliver clear safety demonstrations and make public address announcements with confidence and clarity.
- Assist passengers with special needs, including unaccompanied minors and elderly travelers, providing guidance and support throughout the journey.
- Manage inflight service, including meal and beverage preparation, sales transactions, and cabin cleanliness.
- Respond to medical emergencies, including administering CPR or first aid when necessary.
- Operate emergency equipment, open heavy doors, and access overhead compartments requiring overhead reach of at least 76 inches.
- Work in confined spaces and remain alert to potential allergens such as nuts, perfumes, cleaning agents, and animal dander.
- Maintain punctuality and reliability, reporting to your assigned base within two hours (or 2.5 hours for NYC-based roles).
- Use mobile devices and software like Microsoft Outlook and Word for communication, documentation, and reporting.
- Adhere to strict appearance standards, including restrictions on visible tattoos and piercings.
Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 21 years old, fluent in English, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A valid passport and authorization to work in the U.S. are required. You must successfully complete four weeks of training—two weeks of remote virtual instruction followed by two weeks at the training center in Minneapolis, where travel, lodging, and transportation are provided. Physical requirements include the ability to sit in jumpseats without extensions, lift and maneuver heavy carts, and work in pressurized aircraft environments.
Compensation and Benefits
Flight Attendants receive a starting hourly rate based on credit hours, with a guaranteed minimum of 75 hours per month and incremental increases outlined in the collective bargaining agreement. Additional compensation includes a per diem of $2.25.
