The Senior Consultant / Principal is expected to maintain strong client relationships, identify new opportunities, and deliver high-quality, innovative solutions that align with organizational goals and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
- Interpret federal, state, and local environmental regulations to guide client compliance.
- Evaluate potential environmental impacts and identify associated risks and challenges.
- Define project scope and lead multidisciplinary teams, including managing consultants across multiple assignments.
- Review technical data, reports, cost estimates, and permit applications for accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate and supervise work for multiple clients and complex projects, leading teams of up to ten professionals.
- Support long-term client engagement by contributing to strategic initiatives and business development.
- Ensure quality control across project deliverables and administrative processes.
- Perform independent technical work, including analysis, design, and reporting tailored to project needs.
- Serve as primary client contact, maintaining regular communication to identify evolving needs.
- Build relationships with industrial, legal, financial, government, and investment clients to generate new opportunities.
- Contribute to proposals by developing technical approaches, schedules, and cost projections.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams to implement client acquisition and project execution strategies.
- Manage RFPs, contract negotiations, and project implementation activities.
- Leverage professional networks to expand client base and grow existing accounts.
- Develop a pipeline of business through independent leads, cross-selling, and joint pursuits.
- Enhance EHS service offerings by developing tools such as compliance calendars, databases, and risk management solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in engineering, geology, or a closely related environmental science field.
- Minimum of 18 years of experience in environmental consulting or a related discipline.
- Proven experience conducting EHS audits across multiple industries.
- Track record of advancing projects from due diligence into operational phases.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities, with a disciplined approach to work.
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Capacity for critical and strategic thinking in complex project environments.
- Experience with environmental site investigations and remediation activities.
- Ability to conduct field work under diverse environmental conditions.
- Willingness to travel and perform field work approximately 10% to 25% of the time.
