Co-operators, a leading Canadian financial services co-operative, is seeking a Senior Actuarial Consultant to support the reserving side of Corporate Actuarial. Your role is pivotal in ensuring the reserve adequacy of our property and casualty (P&C) lines of business. You will collaborate with business partners and lead complex projects to deliver unique solutions.
What You'll Do
- Contribute to regulatory and strategic reserving analyses using actuarial models, various data sources, and programming languages.
- Lead and support the refinement, maintenance, and documentation of reserving practices through process improvements and model and reserving software integration.
- Analyze the needs of business partners, research multiple data sources, and identify actuarial requirements to design innovative solutions for complex challenges.
- Build and implement detailed project plans, perform peer reviews, and provide direction and expertise to team members.
- Coach and mentor team members to facilitate their development and foster a team environment focused on collaboration and innovation.
- Efficiently communicate complex actuarial and financial concepts while adapting narratives to various audiences.
What We're Looking For
- A completed post-secondary degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related discipline.
- Six to eight years of relevant experience in the property and casualty actuarial field.
- Advanced knowledge of modeling software and programming languages.
- Strong knowledge of P&C insurance products, emerging trends, and best practices in the actuarial landscape.
- Proficiency in English is essential for drafting complex documents, preparing daily reports for anglophone leaders, and communicating with primarily non-francophone clients and teams.
Nice to Have
- Reserving experience.
- Experience with one or more reserving software commonly used throughout the industry.
- Having or working towards the ACAS or FCAS designations.
- French language skills.
