The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) is hiring a Scientist to join its Environment and Lifestyle Epidemiology (ENV) Branch. You will participate in research on environmental causes of childhood cancer, coordinating an EU-funded international project and leading a work package focused on the association between environmental factors and pre-leukaemic clones.
What You'll Do
- Assist in coordinating an international EU project on environmental causes of childhood leukaemia, following EU project coordination guidelines.
- Assist in leading a multinational project on exposure to air pollutants, pesticides, PFAS, radiations, and other chemicals and their association with pre-leukaemic clones using a consortium of birth cohorts.
- Develop exposure assessment for epidemiological analyses based on biomarkers and modelling from environmental measurements and perform the respective statistical analyses.
- Act as a focal point for project partners, responsible for documentation, monitoring progress, developing study materials, monitoring data collection, writing study protocols, performing statistical analysis, and writing reports.
- Lead scientific publications and grant applications related to the topic.
- Participate as coordinating scientist in related branch activities on non-ionizing radiation and childhood cancer risk, and on using Earth observation data to estimate exposure to environmental pollutants in children.
- Support the head of branch in related activities including guiding early career scientists, if applicable.
Team & Environment
You will be integrated into the ENV branch with scientists conducting similar research. While most direct collaborators will be at partner institutions external to IARC, you will be a member of the IARC team on childhood cancer, reporting to the Head of the Environment and Lifestyle Epidemiology (ENV) Branch.
