Provide legal defense in California courts for first-party insurance claims. Conduct legal research and draft briefs, opinions, and memoranda. Manage pleadings, motions, and discovery processes. Prepare for and conduct depositions and examinations under oath. Represent the company at trials or dispositive hearings as necessary
Responsibilities
- Perform legal research on applicable laws and regulations
- Draft legal documents including briefs, opinions, and memoranda
- Issue liability, damages, and valuation opinions upon request from claims teams
- Prepare, file, and manage court pleadings, motions, and discovery responses
- Conduct pre-trial depositions and examinations under oath
Requirements
- 2 to 6 or more years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or personal injury
- Juris Doctor degree required
- Active membership in the California State Bar
- Must hold a valid license in good standing and comply with all California CLE requirements
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed for trials, hearings, depositions, and meetings
- Ability to maintain clear, concise, and professional written records understandable by internal and external stakeholders
- Capable of following complex directives, managing priorities, resolving conflicts, and multitasking effectively
- Proficient in learning and applying detailed procedural and technical legal information

Compensation
112750.00 - 186550.00 annually. Includes performance and recognition-based incentives, 401K match, and tuition assistance
