The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is hiring a Research Associate I to contribute to innovative research in the Hossain Lab. In this role, you will support the development of novel immunotherapies for solid cancers by assisting with experiment design, execution, and data analysis under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator.
What You'll Do
- Conduct laboratory research for the lymphatics project, performing techniques such as RNA/protein isolation, gene/protein expression analysis, tissue and cell culture, flow cytometry, microscopy, and in vivo tumor model studies.
- Prepare scientific documents including research progress reports, manuscripts for publication, and patent applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting with general lab operations and supporting collaborative research efforts.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor's degree.
- Five (5) years of research experience.
- Understanding of principles of biology, pharmacology, and physiology.
- Proficiency in handling laboratory animals and performing surgical and non-surgical animal procedures.
- Proficiency in preparing and maintaining cell cultures and in experimental methods like Western blot, PCR, flow cytometry, processing tissue for histopathology, and adenoviral transfections.
- Computer skills for word processing, data management, biostatistics, and scientific presentation.
- Ability to perform literature research, simple statistical analyses, scientific presentation, and other tasks aimed at refining ongoing protocols, summarizing results, and developing new research protocols.
