NYU Langone Health is hiring a Registered Nurse Instructor to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the orientation of new staff, teaching required courses, and developing educational programs based on staff needs and performance management. You will report to the Director of Nursing Education.
What You'll Do
- Create spreadsheets, reports, and templates for Site Leadership.
- Include age-specific considerations in educational content.
- Participate in planning and analyzing educational programs based on evidence-based standards.
- Provide teaching instructions to new staff while assessing and evaluating competency during orientation.
- Confer with the Director of Nursing Education regarding new hire competency and submit post-orientation evaluations.
- Meet regularly during orientation with Orientees, Preceptor, and Nurse Manager to review progress.
- Complete and maintain attendance sheets, program evaluations, quarterly reports, and staff evaluations.
- Participate in on-going competency assessment of nursing staff and identify educational needs.
- Plan and teach formal and informal education to promote safety and quality based on The Joint Commission and state requirements.
- Review and revise Instructor and Nursing Education orientation manuals, including class content outlines.
- Serve as a consultant and resource to nursing staff in interpreting policy and procedure standards and evidence-based practices.
- Serve as the site's time keeper and maintain accurate records of all employees' work hours, vacation, and sick hours.
- Initiate and facilitate Engineering work requests and report site-related operational issues.
- Order all required administrative and medical supplies for the site and initiate Purchasing Orders.
- Take meeting minutes for monthly staff meetings and Labor Management meetings.
- Perform other duties as aligned with the mission and values of the organization.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree required.
- Four to five years of recent, full-time Nursing experience required.
- Two to three years recent experience in the respective specialty (e.g., Critical Care, Maternal Child, Perioperative) for Specialty Instructors.
- Demonstrated patient care competency.
- Previous involvement in an orientation process and preceptorship or internship programs.
- Demonstrates an understanding of the teaching-learning process.
- Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.
- Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in NYS.
- Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS.
Nice to Have
- Master's degree in Nursing Education.
- Four to five years of recent full-time Nursing experience with teaching experience preferred.
- 5 years recent Oncology experience with recent BMT experience.
- Teaching experience preferred.
