Wake Technical Community College is looking for a Biology Instructor to join its team. In this role, you will provide effective instruction for assigned Biology courses, fostering a dynamic and supportive learning environment for students.
What You'll Do
- Instruct and guide classes efficiently and effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance.
- Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour.
- Maintain a safe and orderly learning environment.
- Grade and return student work in a timely manner.
- Counsel students regarding their grades and progress.
- Construct classroom materials that support course goals.
- Design curriculum and a schedule of instruction.
- Maintain regular office hours.
- Stay abreast of current teaching methods and classroom technology.
- Use assessment techniques to improve student learning outcomes and teaching methods.
- Serve on college or department committees as needed.
- Attend professional development opportunities when possible.
- Assist with establishing course goals, selecting texts, and constructing syllabi.
- Maintain communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses current.
- Participate in graduation exercises.
- Promote continuous improvement by completing an annual applied benchmark project.
What We're Looking For
- A Master's degree in Biology OR a Master's degree in a related field with 18 graduate semester hours in Biology.
- Post-secondary teaching experience.
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Office products, including MS Word and Excel.
- Ability to demonstrate creativity and innovation in the classroom.
- Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, consistently meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
