Wake Technical Community College is seeking an Instructor Engineering to provide effective instruction for assigned courses. In this role, you will be responsible for designing curriculum and fostering a supportive, engaging learning environment for our students.
What You'll Do
- Instruct and guide classes in an efficient and effective manner.
- Maintain accurate records of student work and attendance.
- Prepare thoroughly for each instructional hour and maintain a safe, orderly learning environment.
- Grade and return student work promptly and counsel students on their grades and progress.
- Construct classroom materials that support course goals.
- Design curriculum, a schedule of instruction, and a syllabus.
- Maintain regular office hours and stay current with teaching methods and classroom technology.
- Use assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
- Serve on college or department committees as needed and attend professional development.
- Assist with establishing course goals and selecting texts.
- Maintain communication with instructors from other divisions to keep courses current.
- Participate in graduation exercises and serve as a faculty-advisor to Associate in Engineering students.
What We're Looking For
- A Master's degree in Engineering OR a Master's degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Engineering.
- Able to use a wide variety of teaching methods and be innovative, creative, and motivated.
- Ability to exhibit good interpersonal skills and work well with others.
- Able to maintain records accurately and meet deadlines consistently with good organizational skills.
- Knowledge of and facility with technology and software including computers and web-based resources like BlackBoard.
- Able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates resourcefulness, initiative, enthusiasm, and a sincere interest in helping students reach their maximum potential.
Nice to Have
- A Master's in Mechanical Engineering and three years of teaching experience in Engineering courses.
- Community college or university teaching experience.
- Five years of practical or industry experience in an engineering field with some CAD experience.
