Personalcare Registered Professional Nursing, P.C. is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to join the Medical Department at the Ulster County Jail in Kingston, NY. This role involves working day or night shifts to assess and provide comprehensive treatment care while observing security requirements and reporting to the Medical Director or other mid-level practitioner.
What You'll Do
- Monitor treatment services to avoid inappropriate use and/or duplication.
- Advise the Health Services Administrator and Nurse Supervisor regarding inappropriate service use.
- Monitor and recommend methods to improve operational efficiency and cost containment.
- Assist in coordinating and conducting monthly health care staff meetings as assigned.
- Maintain accurate records of all controlled substances, narcotics, and sharps per state and federal laws.
- Provide health counseling to patients.
- Conduct sick call for inmate/patients, providing provisional diagnosis and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries per protocol.
- Observe, report, and document symptoms, reactions, and progress of inmate/patients, participating in care plan formulation.
- Implement treatment care plans that promote, maintain, and restore patient well-being.
- At a minimum of every shift, take vital signs, complete an assessment, and document findings for all patients in the medical or mental health unit.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory or corporate staff.
