About the Role

Gifthealth is hiring a Patient Education Specialist to be accountable for exceptional patient and client experiences through effective education, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Reporting to the Patient Education Manager, you will use your clinical expertise to ensure patients comprehend their health information.

What You'll Do

  • Assess patient understanding, barriers, and readiness to learn, adjusting teaching methods to ensure effective comprehension
  • Provide one on one and group education sessions on diagnoses, medications, procedures, and care instructions
  • Document patient education encounters in accordance with clinical, regulatory, and organizational requirements
  • Partner cross-functionally to resolve complex patient issues and improve satisfaction metrics
  • Ensure required courses, continuing education, and compliance training are completed per state board and company policy
  • Create and maintain evidence-based educational materials, including handouts, digital resources, and teaching tools

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and an active nursing license
  • 3-5 years of clinical nursing experience
  • Knowledge of nursing principles, adult learning principles, common medical conditions and treatments, and regulatory standards
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Collaboration and teamwork skills
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and EMR skills
  • Ability to design or update educational programs tailored to individual patient needs
  • Ability to prioritize and support multiple educational programs

Nice to Have

  • Training in Pediatric and Adult Education; Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist; Prior Authorization experience; Obesity Management
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience
  • Knowledge of pharmacy operations, chronic disease management, preventative care, and emerging treatment protocols
  • Curriculum development, advanced presentation, and group facilitation skills
  • Data tracking, educational outcome evaluation, and patient education trend analysis skills

Team & Environment

This role participates in regular meetings with internal Patient Education, Customer Success, Pharmacy Operations, and senior leadership teams, and may also meet with external vendor and consultant partner representatives.

Work Mode

This is an onsite position.
