International SOS Government Medical Services is seeking a Psychiatrist to provide comprehensive mental health assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans for our patients. In this role, you will ensure patients receive appropriate care by collaborating with the healthcare team to promote mental well-being, manage psychiatric conditions, and facilitate crisis intervention.
What You'll Do
- Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with psychiatric and mental health care needs across the life span, including urgent and emergency care.
- Provide gender-specific care, including transgender care and management of mental health during pregnancy.
- Deliver telepsychiatry services to patients at other facilities using video teleconferencing equipment and electronic medical records software.
- Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medication treatment services, including monitoring side effects, and utilize evidence-based algorithms for decision-making.
- Perform various diagnostic and treatment procedures, including cognitive and behavioral psychotherapy, supportive individual and group psychotherapy, and somatic therapies.
- Provide professional, recovery-based psychiatric care considerate of cultural and ethnic diversity, ensuring patients are treated with dignity.
- Act as a mental health consultant to medical staff, providing oversight and direction related to the provision of mental health care.
- Examine and order appropriate diagnostic testing, provide necessary treatment and medications, and refer cases to consultant specialists when necessary.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care, providing data to performance improvement programs.
- Ensure proper maintenance of medical records and prepare reports as required.
- Complete all required initial, annual, and ad hoc training, including organizational compliance education.
- Adhere to all relevant policies, procedures, American Psychiatric Association standards, and legal requirements, including HIPAA and the Privacy Act.
- Communicate proficiently in English (verbal and written) to develop positive rapport with patients, co-workers, and stakeholders.
- Navigate an electronic work environment, including telehealth equipment, electronic health records, and web-based training.
- Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all communications, fostering an inclusive and respectful work environment.
What We're Looking For
- An unrestricted and current license as a psychiatrist issued by the state licensing authority where services are performed.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (if not American Heart Association certified, must be obtained within the first year).
- A minimum of one year of experience as a licensed practicing psychiatrist.
- At least one year of general experience demonstrating the ability to greet and deal tactfully with the public.
- At least one year of general experience demonstrating capability of understanding and applying written and verbal orders, rules, and regulations.
- At least one year of general experience demonstrating good judgment, courage, alertness, an even temperament, and satisfactory performance knowledge.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a detention/correctional or residential healthcare setting.
- Verbal and written proficiency in Spanish.
