Role OverviewAs a Senior Energy Assessment Specialist, you will lead quality assurance efforts for residential energy efficiency projects, focusing on HVAC and weatherization installations. Your work will span on-site and remote inspections, ensuring compliance with technical standards and program requirements across Oregon and southwestern Washington.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field and virtual inspections to verify the quality and accuracy of HVAC and weatherization work
- Develop, refine, and apply quality assurance protocols to maintain program integrity
- Evaluate technical exception requests and provide expert recommendations
- Act as a technical resource for contractors, community organizations, and program staff
- Review project scopes, bids, and installation details for completeness and compliance
- Design and deliver training programs on home energy assessments
- Support community partners through shadowing and event participation
- Conduct energy assessments using diagnostic tools including blower doors, duct blasters, and flow plates
- Analyze and report QA findings using Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Apply deep knowledge of building science and residential efficiency principles
- Resolve complex issues with contractors and customers using clear, professional communication
- Maintain meticulous records and ensure documentation meets quality standards
Qualifications
Candidates must have at least five years of experience in residential construction, HVAC, or energy efficiency programs. The role requires independent judgment, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to travel locally. A valid driver’s license is required, along with the ability to pass pre-employment screening, drug testing, and motor vehicle checks. Ongoing compliance with DOT and transportation regulations is expected where applicable. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship.
Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
Tools & Technology
You’ll use diagnostic equipment such as blower doors, duct blasters, and flow plates, along with Microsoft Excel and Office tools for data tracking, analysis, and reporting.
Compensation & Benefits
This position offers a target annual salary of $70,000, with a range of $55,700 to $83,500.
