About the Role
The engineer will lead substation design and implementation, coordinate with cross-functional teams, and ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards throughout project lifecycles.
Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and technical oversight for high-voltage substation projects
- Develop and review single-line diagrams, schematics, and protection layouts
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies during project execution
- Ensure compliance with IEEE, NEC, and other applicable electrical standards
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables from initiation to closeout
- Perform load flow, short circuit, and arc flash analyses as needed
- Supervise field testing and commissioning activities for new installations
- Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement
- Conduct design reviews and risk assessments throughout project phases
- Interface with operations and maintenance teams for long-term system reliability
- Maintain accurate project documentation and as-built records
- Support permitting and regulatory approval processes
- Troubleshoot technical issues during construction and startup
- Ensure integration of safety protocols in all project stages
- Collaborate with civil and structural engineers on site development
- Optimize system performance through engineering improvements
- Participate in client meetings and technical presentations
- Track project progress and report updates to stakeholders
- Apply industry best practices to enhance project efficiency
- Manage vendor relationships and technical deliverables
- Oversee quality assurance and quality control procedures
- Utilize project management tools for task tracking and scheduling
- Ensure designs meet environmental and sustainability guidelines
- Stay current with advancements in substation technology and grid integration
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance
