Climate KIC is hiring a part-time Project Communications Officer to create a bridge between project delivery communications and our central Editorial Team. In this hands-on role, you will create purposeful content to reach project audiences and build the Climate KIC brand, turning complex climate ideas into simple, powerful messages. You will focus on supporting communications for projects in climate adaptation, agri-food, land use, and forestry.
What You'll Do
- Support executing communication strategies for projects and programmes, finding new ways to captivate audiences.
- Draft high-quality editorial content for Climate KIC’s and project websites, newsletters, and social media channels.
- Create promotional materials tailored to different audiences.
- Support the design of visuals for social media, websites, newsletters, and other editorial products.
- Liaise with consortium partner organisations to align on communications deliverables and ensure timely, accurate reporting.
- Manage project-specific social media channels and websites, ensuring regular updates and audience engagement.
- Liaise with external contractors who support project communications.
- Support project event planning and promotion.
- Provide communications support to the project and the broader Communications & Marketing team as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Some experience in communications, marketing, or journalism.
- Flawless copywriting and storytelling skills in English.
- Some experience managing digital channels (social media, newsletters, websites), including content creation and analytics.
- Some experience working on online or offline communications campaigns.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
- Comfort working with digital collaboration tools like Office365, Microsoft Teams, Miro, and Zoom.
- A good eye for detail applied to analytical, writing, and visual literacy skills.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
- A curious, learning mindset.
- A collaborative approach.
- Proactive drive for problem-solving, comfortable taking initiative and managing your own schedule with guidance.
Nice to Have
- A Master’s degree in communications, marketing, or journalism.
- Ability to work with video, podcasts, and other multimedia formats.
- Good digital skills, with familiarity in social media management, performance tracking tools, WordPress, Adobe suite, Canva, and email marketing.
- Some knowledge and experience in topics related to sustainability, innovation, climate change, or environmental topics.

Team & Environment
This role is firmly anchored in the Communications and Marketing Team, while also working closely with project teams. You will report to the Senior Communications Manager (Lead for Regions Cluster).
Benefits & Compensation

- Compensation is location-based: €21,700 in Belgium (for 19 hours/week) or €20,300 in the Netherlands (for 20 hours/week).
Work Mode
This is a hybrid part-time role based in either Brussels, Belgium or Amsterdam, Netherlands.
