Mass General Brigham is seeking a Medical Assistant II to support healthcare teams by providing clinical and non-clinical patient services. You’ll work under the direction of healthcare providers, directly interact with patients, and collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and nursing staff to facilitate efficient care.
What You'll Do
- Assist junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions, participate in onboarding training, and help facilitate their learning.
- Show patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, and interview patients to obtain medical information.
- Measure and record patient vital signs, weight, and height in the medical record.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions.
- Order and organize educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Perform general office duties, including answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms.
- Act as a liaison with other departments and advocate for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect, log, and prepare laboratory specimens such as blood or tissue for testing.
- Perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
- Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
- Provide immunizations, which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine under provider supervision.
- Improve departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Direct MA experience or medical field work of 1-2 years.
Nice to Have
- Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification).
Technical Stack
