AEMO is hiring a Principal Engineer to provide expert technical, regulatory, and process guidance across our connection and reform activities. In this leadership role, you will shape the integration of new technologies and connections, support major network augmentations, and implement new regulatory frameworks.

What You'll Do

Lead the development and assessment of PSCAD, PSS®E, and other power system models for new technologies, ensuring effective integration into the existing power system.
Provide technical leadership on emerging technology integration, major plant connections, streamlined connection processes, and regulatory implementation across complex projects.
Facilitate consultation and workshops with internal and external experts, negotiate technical outcomes, and contribute to stakeholder management plans.
Direct and coordinate technical resources, including consultants, to deliver timely, high‑quality support aligned with project and government timeframes.
Prepare clear technical and non‑technical communications, lead process improvements from regulatory changes, and proactively strengthen AEMO’s reputation as a trusted partner.

What We're Looking For

Engineering, stakeholder, project management, or relevant regulatory and policy qualifications.
Demonstrated experience in establishment or reform projects requiring extensive stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and NER change management and implementation.
Proven ability to shape and deliver outcomes across stakeholders with competing interests, negotiating aligned solutions.
