Lead environmental assessment initiatives for public and private clients, focusing on linear infrastructure such as roads, transit systems, pipelines, and transmission lines. You will manage or support environmental permitting, compliance monitoring, and federal assessment processes, including meaningful collaboration with Indigenous communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct or contribute to environmental assessments under various frameworks, including Individual/Comprehensive EAs, Municipal Class EAs, and federal processes
- Design and lead innovative public and stakeholder consultation strategies, including virtual engagement methods
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to advance transportation and infrastructure projects
- Support business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and responding to RFPs
- Mentor junior staff through coaching, technical guidance, and career development support
- Engage with professional organizations to enhance the firm’s industry presence
- Commit to personal growth through ongoing learning and mentorship from senior practitioners
Qualifications
Candidates must hold a university degree or post-secondary diploma in planning, environmental studies, biology, or a related discipline, along with at least five years of experience in environmental assessment, preferably within a consulting environment. A strong background in linear infrastructure projects and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. A valid Class G driver’s license is required.
Preference will be given to those with membership or candidacy in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute, proven experience as an Environmental Lead on Class EAs, and in-depth knowledge of environmental regulations at municipal, provincial, and federal levels. Experience in environmental management during construction, including monitoring and environmental management plans, is also valued.
