PG&E is hiring a Power Generation Project Engineer

About the Role

PG&E is looking for a Power Generation Project Engineer to lead engineering and project management for capital improvements to our power generation and infrastructure facilities. In this journey-level role, you will provide comprehensive technical support to O&M staff, manage multiple moderately complex projects, and play a key role in supporting PG&E’s owner dam safety program.

What You'll Do

  • Lead design and project management efforts for moderately complex generation projects, including discipline-specific and multi-discipline work.
  • Provide broad technical support to Operations & Maintenance, including incident investigation and corrective action development.
  • Proactively control scope, schedule, cost, and quality throughout the project lifecycle, coordinating with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform and review engineering analyses, conceptual designs, and recommend fixes to ensure the safe and reliable operation of generation assets.
  • Solicit, prepare, and evaluate contracts and proposals from consultants, vendors, and construction firms.
  • Interpret and apply applicable codes.
  • Approve and stamp technical reports, specifications, and drawings.
  • Represent PG&E to internal and external organizations as required.
  • Identify gaps between current practices and objectives and recommend process improvements.

What We're Looking For

  • A 4-year BS Degree in Engineering from an accredited US curriculum or international equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a California PE license within 18 months of hiring.
  • Mastery of Associate-level Project Engineer duties and demonstrated leadership.
  • A minimum of three years of cumulative experience in project engineering, design, and construction.

Nice to Have

  • Project Management Certification.
  • A Civil Engineer PE license.
  • Familiarity with dam safety industry best practices and knowledge of FERC guidelines and DSOD regulations.
  • Participation in dam safety organizations such as ASDSO and USSD.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 tools.
  • A background in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience updating the Supporting Technical Information Document (STID) for dams.
  • Experience reviewing and updating Dam Operating Plans with O&M.
  • Experience conducting engineering dam inspections, evaluations, analyses, or design.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing engineering deliverables for regulatory filings.

Team & Environment

This position is one of multiple dam safety engineers assigned to the dam safety program – Motherlode, working under the direction of a supervisor, deputy chief dam safety engineer.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Salary Range: $115,128 - $175,080
