About the Role
The physician will be responsible for providing primary and emergency medical services to a diverse population in an isolated environment, ensuring continuity of care, managing medical supplies, and coordinating with off-island specialists when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Deliver primary care services to adults and children
- Assess and manage acute medical conditions
- Stabilize and prepare patients for medical evacuation
- Maintain accurate electronic medical records
- Prescribe medications within scope of practice
- Perform minor surgical procedures as needed
- Monitor chronic health conditions
- Conduct health screenings and preventive care
- Respond to emergency medical incidents
- Collaborate with nursing and support staff
- Oversee medical supply inventory and ordering
- Ensure compliance with clinical protocols
- Participate in quality assurance reviews
- Provide health education to patients
- Support public health initiatives
- Adhere to patient confidentiality standards
- Coordinate with off-site medical consultants
- Follow infection control procedures
- Maintain clinical equipment functionality
- Document patient encounters promptly
- Adapt care delivery to resource-limited setting
- Work within defined scope of practice
- Respond to after-hours medical calls
- Support medical training for non-clinical staff
- Ensure readiness for mass casualty events
