About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is hiring a Phlebotomist (Donor Centre Associate) in a temporary part-time capacity. You will be part of the Collections team at the AB-Edmonton donor centre, responsible for safely collecting donor blood to provide patients with lifesaving products. Your role is vital in ensuring safe processing, handling, and quality service throughout the donation process.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct registration and confidential donor screening to determine eligibility and build a positive donor experience.
  • Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products while respecting donor privacy.
  • Perform venipuncture according to established standards, monitor donors for safety and comfort, and provide post-donation care and instruction.
  • Ensure accuracy of product information in the computer system, complete the product labelling process, and prepare products.
  • Drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and supporting best practices to enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.
  • Assist in setting up booths, tables, and equipment at mobile community events to ensure donor clinics are properly set up.

What We're Looking For

  • Completion of high school.
  • Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy OR one year of related experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public, particularly in a high customer-focused environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience working with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems and programs.

Nice to Have

  • Previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to communicate in more than one language.
