Canadian Blood Services is hiring a Temporary Part-Time Phlebotomist (Donor Centre Associate) to join our mission-driven team. In this vital role, you will collect donor blood and blood components safely to provide lifesaving products. You’ll be responsible for performing phlebotomy, ensuring safe processing and handling of blood products, and providing excellent service to donors, team members, and volunteers.
What You'll Do
- Conduct registration and confidential screening to determine donor eligibility and build a positive donor experience.
- Ensure safe processing and handling of blood products and respect donor privacy.
- Perform venipuncture according to established standards, monitoring donors for safety and comfort, and providing post-donation care and instruction.
- Ensure accuracy of product information in the computer system, complete product labelling, and prepare products.
- Share knowledge and support best practices to enhance processes and elevate the donor experience.
- Assist in setting up booths, tables, and equipment at mobile community events.
What We're Looking For
- Completion of high school.
- Completion of an accredited training program in phlebotomy or one-year of related experience.
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience working with the public in a high customer-focused environment.
- Knowledge of and experience working with current Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn new systems and programs.
Nice to Have
- Previous knowledge of Microsoft Word and Outlook.
- Ability to communicate in more than one language.
