Allegheny Health Network is hiring a Pharmacist for part-time, hourly inpatient work at Jefferson Hospital. This position optimizes patient care by promoting rational, safe, and cost-effective pharmaceutical care, including direct medication dispensing and clinical support.
What You'll Do
- Process prescriptions by conducting prospective drug reviews to identify, prevent, and resolve drug-related problems.
- Ensure medications are accurately and efficiently compounded and dispensed for safe, appropriate, and cost-effective therapy.
- Provide accurate and timely drug information to health professionals, patients, and the public, documenting interventions and outcomes.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to manage drug therapy, protocols, and guidelines.
- Supervise and direct the work of pharmacy technicians, students, externs, and support personnel.
- Train pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy residents, and students in their duty areas.
- Oversee daily inventory maintenance and ensure controlled substances are stored and dispensed in full compliance with regulations.
- Contribute to departmental operations through computer functions, medication refilling, label generation, and phone support.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Participate in performance improvement and regulatory compliance efforts, promoting a safety-first environment.
- If serving as Night Pharmacist: triage and delegate nightly activities, serve as the primary interface for medication-related problems, and troubleshoot information technology and automation issues.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Licensed or eligible for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist in Pennsylvania at hire, or willingness to sit for boards and obtain licensure within 120 days.
Nice to Have
- Hospital pharmacy experience.
