Join a supportive and collaborative team as a remote Payroll Specialist, responsible for managing payroll operations for small and medium-sized businesses across multiple states. You will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, adhering to federal, state, and local regulations while supporting both internal teams and external clients.
What You’ll Do
- Process payroll accurately, verifying timekeeping data imported from attendance systems
- Manage employee changes including new hires, terminations, pay adjustments, and leave statuses
- Maintain detailed payroll records and generate reports for internal and client use
- Submit retirement and health savings contributions according to plan requirements
- Respond to inquiries from employees and managers regarding pay statements and deductions
- Stay current with payroll systems used by clients, including HRIS and retirement platforms, to provide informed support and guidance
What We’re Looking For
- At least four years of hands-on payroll experience, with exposure to multi-state payroll regulations
- Strong understanding of compliance requirements and payroll audit standards
- Proven ability to manage time effectively and meet recurring deadlines without supervision
- Familiarity with platforms such as Gusto, Paylocity, Rippling, ADP, Paychex, iSolved, or Paycom
- A bachelor’s degree or professional certification like CPP or FPC is a plus
