As the International Payroll Lead, you will oversee the complete payroll lifecycle for employees in the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France, and the United Kingdom. Your primary responsibility will be ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant payroll delivery across all jurisdictions, aligned with local legal requirements and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end payroll processing in coordination with external providers and internal teams, ensuring consistency and precision
- Ensure adherence to local labor laws, tax codes, and statutory obligations across all operating countries
- Act as the central point of contact for payroll inquiries from employees, HR, finance, and third-party vendors
- Enhance payroll systems, documentation, and internal controls to support scalability and audit readiness
- Generate and distribute payroll reports, reconciliations, and journal entries for accounting and finance stakeholders
- Support external and internal audits by providing accurate records and implementing process improvements
- Work closely with HR to maintain data integrity through employee lifecycle changes
- Provide occasional support to the U.S. payroll team during peak periods or special projects
Qualifications and Skills
Candidates must have at least four years of experience managing multi-country payroll, with demonstrated expertise in European payroll regulations—particularly in the Netherlands, Germany, the UK, or France. Fluency in written and spoken English is essential.
- Proven understanding of European employment law and statutory payroll requirements
- Strong analytical abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Experience managing relationships with international payroll vendors
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables and lookup functions
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-moving, global environment
- Sensitivity and discretion when handling confidential employee data
Preferred Background
- Experience handling payroll for equity-based compensation across international borders, including tax withholding and reporting
- Familiarity with U.S. and Canadian payroll regulations and labor standards
Tools and Systems
You will work with platforms including Personio, UKG/Immedis, ADP, SAP, and advanced Excel functions to manage payroll operations efficiently and accurately.
