Allegheny Health Network is looking for a Patient Care Technician I to join the Med/Surg team at Jefferson Hospital. This part-time role provides direct patient care and assists with unit coordination, performing basic nursing procedures under the supervision of Registered Nurses.
What You'll Do
- Provide, obtain, perform, and document direct patient care including activities of daily living, vital signs, specimen collection, intake and output, blood glucose testing, point of care testing, bladder scanning, and patient transport.
- Participate in quality and patient satisfaction initiatives such as bedside shift report, hourly rounding, falls prevention, hand washing, and maintaining a clean environment.
- Accurately document vital signs, weights, I&O, restraints, and specimen collection, reporting changes in patient condition to nursing staff.
- Participate in unit activities including supply stocking and equipment cleaning, checks, and retrieval.
- Practice medical asepsis, respect patient dignity and privacy, and respond appropriately during emergency situations.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to read, write, and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematics
- Basic computer skills
- CPR – American Heart Association certification
- Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
- Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
- Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
Nice to Have
- Acute care experience within the last 3 years
- Currently enrolled in an ASN or BSN program with at least one clinical rotation completed
Team & Environment
Works under general supervision of the Registered Nurse for stable patients and direct supervision for acutely ill/complex patients. Receives assignments from the Charge Nurse and/or Care Team Leader.

This is an onsite position located at Jefferson Hospital.
