UPMC Greene is hiring a Patient Care Technician for the Emergency Department at UPMC Community Osteopathic. In this onsite role, you will perform essential patient care duties, assist with procedures, and support unit operations while contributing to a safe and effective care environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, feeding, transporting, toileting, ambulating, turning, and repositioning.
- Complete medical record documentation in accordance with established procedures.
- Report equipment malfunctions promptly to the appropriate departments.
- Contribute to universal unit activities such as responding to call lights and telephones, passing meal trays, and transporting patients.
- Establish professional relationships and utilize effective communication with patients, families, colleagues, and other departments.
- Provide feedback to the RN regarding patient care and report changes in patient status.
- Provide instruction to patients and their families under the direction of the RN.
- Perform work in a timely and productive manner.
- Complete department clerical functions as needed.
- Routinely perform UPMC core nursing assistant responsibilities, including ADLs, point of care testing, weights, vital signs, I&O, and telemetry monitor application.
- Achieve and maintain competency in at least one advanced skill based on department need, such as peripheral IV removal, indwelling Foley catheter removal, basic arrhythmia, or NG tube clamping and removal.
