JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Student Disability Resources (SDR) is seeking a part-time Lab Assistant to support a student with a mobility impairment during Chemistry Lab courses in Fall 2025. You'll be the behind-the-scenes hero ensuring full course accessibility by assisting with hands-on lab activities. Your key responsibilities include:
Lab Assistant
- Serve as the student's in-class lab assistant.
- Handle lab equipment and materials as directed by the student.
- Manage lab components: retrieving, carrying, and organizing.
- Execute the student's verbal instructions with precise attention to detail.
Lab Safety
- Strictly adhere to all lab safety protocols.
- Promptly report any safety concerns to university personnel.
Other
- Additional tasks as assigned by SDR.
Requirements:
- Time commitment:
- Attend in-person class sessions at Penn State University Park Campus.
- Tuesday: 1:30PM - 5:30PM
- Flexibility to schedule work outside of class for course assignments.
- Available for approximately 4-8 hours per week.
- Must have solid knowledge of Chemistry lab safety procedures.
- Previous experience with disability support is a plus, but not mandatory.
