The Pennsylvania State University is hiring a Part-Time AURORA Program Leader for its Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management Department. In this role, you will guide students through outdoor education programs, focusing on skill development and supporting their transition to college life.
What You'll Do
- Teach and instruct students on skills of backpacking and backcountry living.
- Manage group and time in the backcountry environment.
- Conduct real-time risk assessment and decision-making.
- Manage trip logistics.
- Instruct on technical skills such as cooking and setting up shelters.
- Teach backcountry ethics to ensure limited impact on the natural world.
- Provide first-aid care as needed.
- Mentor and support students as they experience their transition to college life and explore their own leadership opportunities.
What We're Looking For
- Group management experience.
- Wilderness First Aid certification.
- CPR/AED certification.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to drive a vehicle.
