Metronet is looking for an OSP Field Supervisor to ensure our fiber network is constructed safely, accurately, and to our high standards. In this frontline role, you will serve as an inspector, leader, and community ambassador, actively resolving issues and upholding our specifications.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a thorough understanding of our technical specifications, standard practices, and safety requirements.
- Conduct walkouts and inspections of aerial fiber cable placement on poles, splice points, and underground conduit and handhole installations for quality and compliance.
- Approve all unitized completed aerial work that meets Metronet’s standards.
- Manage the OSP Construction Tracker and monitor approved budgets for assigned work orders.
- Respond to utility strikes, conduct investigations, and complete required documentation within 24 hours, including retraining or terminating contractors as necessary.
- Conduct a weekly audit for each contractor covering safety, construction, and quality practices.
- Identify contractor training needs and arrange for the necessary training.
- Ensure aerial line contractors hold weekly safety and communications tailgate meetings and assist in scheduling periodic damage prevention meetings in the appropriate language.
What We're Looking For
- A High School Diploma or GED; or 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
- Related quality control and/or outside aerial plant construction experience.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Proven ability to work well under pressure.
- Capable of walking long distances daily, potentially over uneven ground, with contractors.
- Ability to work in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions while maintaining safe work zone practices.
- Excellent communication and diplomacy skills.
- A strong commitment to and drive for quality and safety.
- Ability to distinguish between general and confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, recognize priorities, and address urgent needs.
- Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations).
Team & Environment
You will manage aerial and/or underground construction crews, acting as a leader and manager in the field.
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary: $40,000 - $75,000 based on experience.
Work Mode
This position is onsite and requires field presence.
