SGS is seeking an Operations Director to lead all operational activities for our Minerals business in North America. You will oversee production, quality, and resource management across the US and Canada, ensuring strategic alignment and driving efficiency and growth.
What You'll Do
- Oversee company operations to ensure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources for the Energy and Geochem Minerals Business Unit.
- Develop and implement a strategic plan to advance the company's mission, drive revenue, profitability, and growth.
- Provide leadership, insight, and coaching to maintain the organization’s value proposition to clients, staff, and the community.
- Plan and implement strategies for generating resources and revenues.
- Report on operational performance to senior leadership.
- Develop and execute a business plan for the growth and profitability of Minerals business services.
- Develop new services, products, and concepts for market segments.
- Identify acquisition and merger opportunities and direct implementation.
- Work with other business line managers to promote SGS services and enhance opportunities.
- Organize and assign resources and staff to accomplish annual and long-range goals.
- Set performance standards, review program reports, and function as a member of the leadership team.
- Develop operating budgets and short/long-term business plans, presenting financial revenue to the VP.
- Work alongside the Sales VP to attain business and sales plans consistent with the Business Unit’s strategic goals.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, operations management, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Multi-site operations experience.
- Knowledge of the Minerals Service Market, specifically Laboratory Services, and Global Trade.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively with officials at all levels of business and government.
- Experience in strategic planning and execution.
- Knowledge of contracting, negotiating, and change management.
- Ability to translate strategy into actions and lead change in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to develop financial plans, manage resources, and interpret financial data and regulatory requirements.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and initiatives simultaneously.
- Strong ability to motivate teams and lead through influence.
- Ability to build high-performance teams, ensure collaboration, and develop others.
