About the Role

The University of Auckland is seeking a Māori Research Lead to join Vine – Violence Information Aotearoa, the national centre for family and sexual violence research. In this key role, you will drive te ao Māori knowledge translation and mobilisation across Vine’s programme of work, ensuring mātauranga Māori and kaupapa Māori research is visible, accessible, and influential in supporting better responses to violence and improved outcomes for whānau Māori.

What You'll Do

  • Drive te ao Māori knowledge translation and mobilisation across Vine’s programme of work.
  • Build strong relationships with Māori researchers, practitioners, communities, hapori and other sector partners.
  • Contribute to evidence briefs, reports, webinars and other resources.
  • Work at the interface of research, policy and practice.

What We're Looking For

  • A strong grounding in kaupapa Māori research.
  • An understanding of the family and/or sexual violence environment.
  • Confidence working with diverse audiences and translating evidence into practical, relevant and mana-enhancing forms.
  • Knowledge of mātauranga and tikanga Māori, including kaupapa Māori knowledge mobilisation.
  • Experience in family and/or sexual violence research, policy or practice.
  • Established relationships with hapori Māori, researchers or sector stakeholders.
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas clearly across different groups.
  • Experience contributing to written, digital or face-to-face knowledge sharing.

Nice to Have

  • A relevant postgraduate degree.

This role is based within the Public Policy Institute in the Faculty of Arts and Education.

The Creative strand is designed for learners exploring how AI tools and systems can support, enhance and optimize creative practice in ethical, human-centered, and culturally responsive ways.This role is ideal for a tutor who is confident facilitating learning in a primarily asynchronous online environment and who can translate emerging AI concepts into practical, accessible learning experiences for creative learners. Key Responsibilities* Facilitate learning in an online and largely asynchronous environment using the LMS and digital communication tools Support learners across Creative strand and shared core courses, including:* Introduction to AI concepts and ethical awareness * Study skills, digital literacy, and employment readiness * AI technologies in creative practice * AI-enabled creative workflows and tools * Support ākonga to explore and evaluate AI tools used in creative industries (e.g. design, media, content creation, ideation, workflow optimization) * Guide learners to analyse AI outputs and communicate reflective, well-reasoned insights as part of their creative practice * Provide clear, timely and constructive online feedback on assessments * Monitor learner engagement and proactively support learners who may be new to study, technology, or creative tools * Maintain accurate academic records and contribute to continuous improvement of online delivery Qualifications: About You:We are looking for a creative professional and educator who brings both industry insight and a passion for learner success. You are confident navigating emerging AI tools within creative contexts and can translate complex ideas into clear, engaging learning experiences. With a learner-centred and culturally responsive approach, you are committed to supporting diverse ākonga and fostering ethical, human-centred use of AI in creative practice.* Experience in creative industries (e.g. design, digital media, content creation, creative technologies) with exposure to AI-enabled tools or workflows * Ability to explain AI concepts in a creative, accessible, and learner-friendly way * Confidence teaching or supporting learners in an online or blended campus environment (advantageous) * Strong written communication skills and comfort engaging learners asynchronously * Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or learner support experience (preferred but not essential) * A culturally responsive and inclusive teaching approach that aligns with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and supports Māori, Pacific, and diverse learner communities * A strong commitment to ethical, responsible, and human-centred use of AI in creative practice Additional Information: Why work with us?
