The Adaptavist Group is looking for a Tax Accountant to play a crucial role in supporting global tax reporting and compliance. You will work closely with the finance team to manage tax obligations for multiple corporate entities operating worldwide in our flexible, remote-first environment.
What You'll Do
- Prepare tax returns including VAT, OSS VAT, GST/HST, SST, and sales tax returns for UK and overseas entities.
- Prepare Balance Sheet reconciliations for direct and indirect tax liabilities and VAT turnover reconciliations.
- Prepare and post monthly tax journal entries.
- Assist with tax filings and payments to meet deadlines.
- Prepare monthly tax cashflow forecasts and liaise with the treasury department.
- Manage monthly tax submissions in AvaTax and maintain an up-to-date ECM database.
- Maintain up-to-date indirect tax files.
- Support the Tax Manager with tax obligations including PSA and STBV reporting.
- Coordinate and support the preparation of R&D claims and Transfer Pricing documentation.
- Assist in ensuring all tax returns and regular reports are filed on time.
- Respond to tax-related queries from internal or external stakeholders.
- Assist with external and internal audit processes.
- Support tax audits and liaise with HMRC and overseas tax authorities.
- Contribute to ad hoc projects and build team capability, including mentoring future direct reports.
What We're Looking For
- Proven experience as a Tax Accountant or in a similar tax-related role.
- Strong interest in direct and indirect taxes and a good understanding of key tax areas.
- Familiarity with NetSuite or similar ERP systems.
- Understanding of AvaTax or similar tax software.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure while juggling multiple projects.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Ability to work as part of a team and use your own initiative to solve problems.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach.
Nice to Have
- Experience within a fast-paced, fast-growth Tech environment.
- A Finance or Tax qualification or degree in accounting.
