What You'll Do
As a Mobile Crisis Intern, you’ll deliver immediate crisis support to people of all ages across Montgomery County. You’ll respond to urgent situations using phone counseling, video sessions, and in-person visits, helping individuals stabilize during critical moments. You’ll conduct timely risk assessments, develop safety plans, and determine if hospitalization is needed. You’ll also connect clients with local resources and create measurable action plans to support long-term stability.
You’ll engage in proactive outreach to individuals who frequently use crisis services, building trust and encouraging ongoing support. Each interaction requires clear, prompt documentation, including progress notes and follow-up summaries. Throughout your internship, you’ll deepen your understanding of county mental health systems, crisis prevention strategies, and trauma-informed practices.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a Master’s program in psychology, social work, or a related behavioral health field
- Hold a completed Bachelor’s degree
- Valid driver’s license with at least two years of driving experience
- Reliable personal vehicle available during scheduled hours
- Valid auto insurance and ability to provide proof of coverage
- No driver’s license suspensions within the past four years
- FBI, PA Criminal, and Child Abuse clearances
- DMV driving history report and physical examination on file
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds
- Vehicle must have current registration and inspection
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience in a mental health setting, whether through employment or internship, is strongly preferred. Familiarity with crisis intervention models and community behavioral health services will support success in this role.
Benefits
You’ll receive reimbursement for mileage incurred while using your personal vehicle for community-based responses. This internship offers direct experience in mobile crisis response within a collaborative, learning-focused environment.
Compensation
This position pays $15 per hour. The internship is onsite in Plymouth Meeting, PA, with required availability between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., seven days a week. A minimum commitment of 20 hours per week is preferred.
