Arup is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Buildings team in Manila. You will support the delivery of hyperscale and complex data centre projects across the Philippines and the wider APAC region, acting as a senior technical, project, and people leader guiding multidisciplinary MEPF design from concept through commissioning.
What You'll Do
- Lead multidisciplinary MEPF design from concept through to commissioning for hyperscale and complex data centre projects.
- Develop a team that effectively wins and undertakes projects across the SIT / Data Center market.
- Assist the section leader on Business Development.
- Supervise and prepare proposals and submissions, and negotiate contracts within the SMEPF team’s framework.
- Act as a Project Leader on assigned projects.
- Undertake multiple design disciplines (Mechanical, Electrical, ELV, Fire Protection, Plumbing/Drainage) for complex data center projects in a design manager role.
- Supervise a group of Engineers in the accomplishment of their respective tasks.
What We're Looking For
- At least a Professional Mechanical Engineer (PME), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), or equivalent Chartership strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of technical and mechanical design experience.
- 5+ years dedicated to Data Centers (hyperscale/colo/enterprise).
- Has project management and business development experience.
- Ability to maintain and develop successful client relationships, creating new business opportunities.
- High experience in multiple building design related to MEPF systems, primarily in thermal or cooling load analysis, energy modelling, CFD, and sustainability.
- Extensive knowledge of different software, both technical and for project management.
- Demonstrated strong design ability and engineering solutions on hyperscale Data Center critical and complex projects.
- Excellent interpersonal skills across all levels, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated good all-round hands-on design and supervisory experience.
- Familiarity with international and local design standards and codes (i.e., Philippine Codes, US standards, BS, JIS, etc.).
Nice to Have
- Membership in recognized professional institutions (i.e., PSME, ASHRAE, NFPA) or certifications (Uptime Institute, ANSI/TIA-942, ISO 50001), or the ability to demonstrate equivalent professional knowledge, experience, and skill.
