The Simulation Model Engineer will join the HVDC System Design department to create simulation models for power system analysis and enable virtual replication of real-time control and protection systems. This role supports the renewable energy transition through HVDC transmission initiatives and involves collaboration with a diverse, international team.
Responsibilities
- Create simulation models using various software tools for power system analysis.
- Build tools that support virtual simulation of real-time control and protection functions.
- Generate technical documentation and detailed reports.
- Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and develop appropriate solutions.
- Interact with customers from specification development through to final acceptance.
- Keep current with advancements and best practices in simulation modeling and related technologies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of experience in control or signal theory, dynamic modeling, or using power system simulation tools such as PSCAD, PSSE, PowerFactory, PSLF, EMTP-RV, Hypersim, Dymola, or PSS® NETOMAC.
- Proficient in English, necessary for effective communication in a global work environment.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with or interest in programming languages such as C++, C#, Fortran, Python, MATLAB, or Modelica.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Capable of independent problem-solving and demonstrating initiative.
