Join AECOM's Ports and Maritime team as a Maritime Engineer. You will play a key technical role delivering design and analysis for civil and structural works in marine and coastal environments. This position involves working on a variety of UK and international projects from concept through to construction.
What You'll Do
- Undertake structural design and analysis of maritime and coastal structures using relevant design codes (BS, Eurocodes, PIANC, CIRIA).
- Develop concept, preliminary, and detailed designs for projects including quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, dolphins, and linkspans.
- Carry out stability, bearing capacity, and durability assessments considering wave, current, and corrosion effects.
- Design and specify fendering systems, mooring arrangements, and scour protection.
- Prepare and review technical reports, design drawings, specifications, and tender documentation.
- Conduct site inspections and structural condition surveys.
- Liaise effectively with clients, contractors, port authorities, and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, hydraulic, environmental, and coastal process engineers in multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental, and CDM Regulations.
- Provide technical support during construction, review contractor submissions, and respond to site queries.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, mentoring, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- MEng or BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent).
- A strong civil/structural design background.
- Sound understanding of structural behaviour, materials (concrete, steel, sheet piles), and marine loading conditions.
- Familiarity with relevant British Standards, Eurocodes, and maritime guidance documents.
- Eligibility and ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC level).
Nice to Have
- Direct experience in marine or coastal infrastructure.
