About the Role

What You'll Do

Lead a small team of policy professionals to support federal decision-makers in crafting and enacting clean energy initiatives. Focus on advancing durable, bipartisan policies in key areas including modernization of the electric grid, industrial decarbonization, clean technology manufacturing, and secure supply chains for critical minerals. Engage directly with federal agencies and congressional staff to inform strategy development and legislative design, offering technical guidance and actionable insights grounded in rigorous analysis.

Build and manage coalitions that bring together diverse stakeholders, fostering collaboration across ideological lines. Guide policy development from concept to implementation, shaping research agendas, stakeholder strategies, and communications plans. Translate complex technical findings into clear, concise briefings tailored for federal audiences. Represent the organization at public forums and industry events as a recognized expert in federal energy policy.

Design and oversee projects with measurable outcomes, ensuring accountability and rigor in all outputs. Collaborate with internal teams across sectors—such as industry, buildings, and power—to align federal strategies with broader climate goals. Identify funding opportunities and support development efforts in coordination with organizational leadership.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with federal administrative processes, including Executive Orders and rulemaking
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing small teams effectively
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and a self-driven approach to project execution
  • Ability to develop structured strategies and solve complex policy challenges
  • Experience navigating multi-organizational partnerships and balancing competing interests

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background working with cross-partisan coalitions, particularly those involving center-right organizations or industry groups
  • Familiarity with the U.S. power sector and energy infrastructure policy
  • Established network among federal policymakers and stakeholders in Washington, D.C.
